Robert "Rob" Samuel Raker

Robert (Rob) Samuel Raker of Monument, CO passed away unexpectedly on March 12, 2024, during his daily walk overlooking the beauty of Pikes Peak.  

The family extends a heartfelt thank you to the strangers and emergency responders who rushed to Rob’s aid during his final moments.

Rob was born on Flag Day, June 14, 1951, in Huntington, IN, to Asa Raker and Elizabeth “Tillie” Raker (Fulton).  

Rob served as a Court Administrator spanning 34 years in both the federal and state courts in Arizona and Iowa as well as the Immigration Court in Kansas.  His passion was photography. He particularly enjoyed photographing automotive racing and all of the major stick and ball sports (especially his Kansas City Chiefs). He would also enjoy spending time photographing still life and animals (eagles were a favorite).  When Rob was behind the lens of a camera, a different and more gregarious personality was allowed to shine.  

He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Laurie Raker (King) located in Colorado; his son, Christopher Raker and his wife Andrea Raker (Urbain) located in Iowa; and his daughter, Leslie Olivetta (Raker), her husband Ryan Olivetta, and their two grandchildren, Tristian Olivetta and Lovella Olivetta located in Colorado; as well as his sister, Cathy Miller (Raker) located in Montanna.    

He is proceeded in death by his father, mother, and his beloved shitzu, Mr. Butters.

Rob was a quiet, selfless man who made many friends of strangers with his stories and kind heart. He was a great man who will be greatly missed by his family and friends.  

Celebration of life events will take place this summer in Indiana and Colorado.
