Rodney Shepherd
March 17th, 1948 - October 25th, 2018
Rodney Shepherd, of Peyton, Colorado passed on Thursday, October 25, 2018, at home with his loving wife by his side. Mr. Shepherd, born in Tazewell, Virginia, March 17, 1948, is survived by his wife, Jo Ann Shepherd, his five children: Kelli Shepherd, Clinton Shepherd, Zabrina Shepherd Taylor, Jessica Shepherd, and Jaclyn Shepherd. He also leaves behind six grandchildren, Jared Wilkerson, Hannah Wilkerson, Anthony Shepherd, Vann Shepherd, Alec Shepherd, and Reagan Piatt. He is proceeded in death by his father and mother, one brother, two sisters, and one granddaughter. He is a Veteran of the Vietnam War, and went on to continue his Twenty-Eight years of service to his country, retiring as Chief Master Sergeant from the United States Air Force in 1997. He then went on to become a Special Engineer /Technical Advisor contractor supporting HQ Air Force Space Command. His expertise in the missile warning, missile defense and Space Situational Awareness mission environment was second to none. He is highly respected in all arenas throughout the ground-based radar community. He was a loving husband and a dedicated father. He chose to live out his days in Peyton, Colorado where he loved the peaceful wide-open spaces including the fresh air, beautiful sunrises and sunsets along with nights of staring up at the stars. The funeral service will be held at 10:00 am November 1, 2018, at Memorial Gardens Cemetery & Funeral Home.
