Roger H. Mello, 57, of Venice, Florida and formerly of Bermuda, died suddenly Tuesday July 29, 2008. He was born on March 8, 1951 in Bermuda to Wesley R. and Mildred (Robinson) Mello. Roger owned his own business in Bermuda, and moved to Venice 2 years ago. He leaves to mourn his beloved wife of 37 years, Nancy; loving son, Michael and his wife Greisy, and much loved granddaughter, Haley; mother-in-law, Patricia Thorne-Kemp; brothers, Gerald (Joan) and Harry (Dolly), sisters, Joan (Gerald) Botelho and Margaret (David) Desilva, sister-in-law; Cindy Laurin and Sharon Mello, brother-in-law, Ronald (Lynn) Thorne; 11 nieces and nephews; 16 great nieces and nephews and 1 great great niece and numerous relatives and special friends in Florida and Bermuda. He was preceded in death by his brother, David and his parents, Mildred and Wesley Mello. He loved his family, friends, home and garden, and enjoyed early morning walks on Nokomis Beach with Nancy, and spending time at the Jetty with friends. He and Michael were avid fans of NASCAR and he enjoyed golfing with his buddies. A memorial service will be held on Thursday August 21, 2008 at 11:00 AM at Farley Funeral Home Venice Chapel. A celebration of his life will take place in Bermuda. He was always willing to help anyone in need and as an organ donor, memorial donations may be made to Life Link Legacy Fund, 409 Bayshore Blvd. Tampa, FL 33606. They requested any donation be noted ” in memory of Roger Mello”.
