Ronald L. Baker, Ron as everyone called him, was born on April 2, 1935, to Howard and Marie Baker of Chicago, Illinois. He passed away on Saturday, July 14, 2018, surrounded by his loving family and friends. Ron joined the U.S. Air Force at the young age of 17 and served for 20 years, stationed at air bases in several states. He also served a tour of active duty in South Vietnam. Upon retirement from the USAF, Ron and his family left their residence in Michigan and traveled the country for a few months, eventually settling down in Colorado. During this same period, Ron joined the federal civil service and for 18 years worked for the Bureau of Land Management (BLM) in Lakewood, Colorado. After his retirement from the BLM, he and his family remained in Colorado until his death. Ron was a kind, trustworthy, good natured, fun loving, strong and hard-working man who loved children and dogs, not necessarily in that order. He was a great provider for our family. He enjoyed working hard in the yard, bowling, playing a round of golf, or a game of softball with the guys whenever he had a chance. And, he would never turn down the opportunity to watch a Pro Golf tournament or his Chicago Cubbies on his big screen High Def T.V. The gift of a heart gave him 25 more years to spend with his family. That loving gift gave him the opportunity to watch his grandchildren and great-grandchildren be born and grow up. Our dad was an amazing man and will always live on in our hearts. See what a special gift can do for a person and for a loving family; if you’re not a donor, be a donor. Ron is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Marie, his sons Mike and Bruce and daughter Judy. His third son, Brian, preceded him in death. He is also survived by his two daughters-in-law, Charlotte and Sharon, six grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren. Burial will be held at Fort Logan National Cemetery at 9:30 a.m. sharp on Monday, July 23. If you are attending this ceremony please be at Fort Logan no later than 9:15. Go to Staging Area B. Park at the front of the procession line behind the funeral coach. Once everyone is present, we will be led to the Committal Shelter for the ceremony. A memorial service for Ron will be held following the Ft. Logan ceremony 11:00 a.m. at the All Saints Catholic Church, 2559 S. Federal Blvd., Denver, CO 80219; 303-922-3758. Following the memorial service, a reception will be held at the church. We hope that you will join us for light refreshments and to help us recall all those good times with Ron. * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * In lieu of flowers, memorials are being accepted by the CU Foundation/UCH Foundation.
