Ronald Yarnick
November 21st, 1930 - August 13th, 2015
Ron Yarnick age 84 of Venice passed away August 13, 2015 after a brief illness. He born and raised in Johnstown PA to Cora and Harry Yarnick, Ron also lived in Columbus, Ohio; Detroit, Mich. & Barrie, Ontario. Services and internment will be at a later date in Toronto, Ontario's St. James Cemetery. Ron was preceded in death by his wife Joan in 1998 after 32 wonderful and fulfilling years of marriage. Survivors include several cousins their families and his friends Louise and Jim Bartolotta. Ron was an all-state scholastic football player who played for Johnstown High School where he received an athletic scholarship to Mississippi State. While there he was named to several SEC Conference honors. He went on to flight school thru the ROTC and achieved the rank of Captain serving in French Morocco. Upon discharge he attended the Art Institute of PGH to pursue his lifelong interest in art while working as an illustrator at ad agencies. He joined North American Aviation (Rockwell Inc.) as a technical illustrator blending his love of art and airplanes in Columbus Ohio. While there he met his wife, a Canadian noted Broadcast Media Director @ BBD&O and entered the broadcast industry. He worked for twenty years as V.P. & Midwest sales Mgr. with Air Trails, Taft broadcast, Metro Media and Golden West Broadcast (owned by Gene Autry) as an account executive. He retired at 55 to Lake Simcoe in Barrie, Ontario and with his wife he traveled and enjoyed his many hobbies and interests for sixteen years until Joan's death. He permanently moved back to the Venice area in 2000 where they had a residence since 1997. Ron was a member of the Venice Art Center and the Charlotte and Sarasota Jazz Clubs. He was a member since 1963 of Reynoldsburg Ohio Masonic Lodge and a 32nd degree mason in the Valley of Columbus and Alladin Shrine Temple. Ron's pleasant disposition and sense of humor will be remembered by all his friends and family.
