Ronnie D. Porter, 67 of Barnum, died Monday, January 5, 2009 in St. Eligius Health Center, Duluth. He was born in 1941, the son of Bud and Kathleen Porter. Ronnie was a 1960 graduate of Barnum High School. He married Karen Granrose on September 16, 1961 in Mahtowa. Ronnie was employed as a security guard by Target Corporation in Fridley and following his retirement in 2003, he returned to the Barnum area. He was preceded in death by his parents. Ronnie is survived by his six children, Shawn (Robert) Cox of Champlin, Rory (Jo-Lei) Porter of New York, Brian (Robin) Porter of New York, Tammy (Scott) Hecker of Carlton, Cary (Andrea) Porter of Coon Rapids and Cheri Porter of Fridley and their mother, Karen Schiffman of New Brighton; 17 grandchildren; 4 great grandchildren; one brother, Chuck (Pam) Porter of Mahtowa; two sisters, Sharon (Philip) Nelson of Cambridge and Gloria (Doug) Soukkala of Mahtowa; several nieces, nephews and many extended family members and friends. Funeral Services were held on Friday, January 9, 2009 in Salem Lutheran Church, Mahtowa. Burial was in Mount Salem Cemetery, Mahtowa.
