North Port resident Roy Corby passed away Sunday, June 28th in his home surrounded by those he loved. Roy was born May 20th, 1931 in Jersey City to Frieda and Joseph Corby. He was the last surviving of their nine children. Roy was 84. He was born and raised a die-hard Yankee's fan. At the age of 16, he enlisted in the Army Air Corps, serving his country for 4 years. His passions in life included his family, casinos, and all things New York. Roy and love of his life, Laurie, were together for 28 years. Mickey, as he's known, is survived by his wife, Laurie; daughters, Michelle (and husband, Todd) and Casey; sons, Roy (and wife, Jenn) and Michael; 8 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren. He also leaves behind his adored nieces and nephews. Visitation will be Monday, July 6th at Farley Funeral Home in North Port between 2-4PM and 6-8PM. A graveside service with military honors will be held at 10:30AM on Tuesday, July 7, 2015 at Sarasota National Cemetery. Donations in lieu of flowers may be sent to Shriners Hospitals or St. Jude Children's Hospital.
