Roy Damron
August 13th, 1955 - August 6th, 2017
Roy Damron, 61, of Columbia, South Carolina, husband of Robbie Spillers Damron passed away Sunday, August 6, 2017. He was born on August 13, 1955 in Huntington, West Virginia to the late Roy Damron, Sr. and JoAnn Spurlock Damron. Roy was a US Army Veteran and a longtime employee of Patterson Dental. He was a member of the Loyal Order of the Moose with a Pilgrim Degree, Cayce Lodge 462 and South Greenville Lodge 749 and Palmetto and Swamp Fox Moose Legion. Roy's love and dedication to Moose Charities locally, statewide, and internationally was evident in his many years teaching, mentoring, and enhancing the lives of the Moose family. In addition to his wife of 17 years, he is survived by 4 daughters, Jamie May (Doug), Shellie Damron, Tara Poole (James), Kem McGuire; a son, Chris McGuire (Jill); 16 grandchildren, Emily, Connor, Jayla, Olyvia, Brianna, Will, T.D., Andrew, Bradley, Stella, Lydia, Maggie, Zanderick, Michael, Alice and Declan; a sister, Kathy Ward; 4 brothers, Randy, Michael, Keith and Kerry Damron. In addition to his parents he was predeceased by his daughter, Starr Renee; and brother, Mark Damron. A memorial service will be held 1 p.m. Saturday, August 12, 2017 at Cayce Moose Family Center, 1541 Old Dunbar Road, West Columbia 29169. The family will receive friends following the service at the home. In honor of Roy, the family has asked everyone to dress casual. Thompson Funeral Home of Lexington assisted the family. The family would like to thank the MICU at Palmetto Richland and Hospice Care of SC. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Moose Charities, 155 International Drive, Mooseheart, IL 60539.
