A Celebration of Life Lunch following the service at 12:30 pm will be held at Parkway Marina Pavilion, 16918 Smith Mountain Lake Parkway, Huddleston, VA24104. Roy Glenn Erbschloe Jr., 69, of Venice, Florida, entered eternal rest on 21 March 2021, from pancreatic cancer. He was born to parents Phyllis R Erbschloe and Roy G Erbschloe Sr., on 11 January 1952 in St Louis, Missouri. He graduated from Montgomery County High School, Montgomery City, MO in 1970. He went on to study Automotive Technology & Business Management at Missouri Southern State University, Joplin, Missouri and graduated with Bachelors Degree. Roy began his 40 year career in the automotive industry in Sales & Service for General Motors and retired in 2017 from Nissan Motor Acceptance Corp as a Financial Services Manager. He always said the best part of his job was all of the people he met and worked with. He started his day reading the Bible. Roy loved the time spent with his family (especially his 6 year old grandson Hunter) and so many wonderful friends. He enjoyed fishing and boating on Smith Mt Lake, restoring his 1957 Chevy, car shows, listening to music, exploring and traveling the world, golf, pickle-ball, maintaining the house & yard, helping others, watching college football - especially Virginia Tech, eating and searching out new places to go out to eat and living life to the fullest with his wife. He was up for a new adventure especially if someone else was organizing it. In October 2020, Roy drove the 57 Chevy onto the Daytona Speedway for the Daytona Drive Experience. It was an unexpected highlight of his life that took a labor of love, hard physical and mental work of many hours, days & years on that car to restore it to make it road worthy to drive on the most famous racetrack in the world. He proudly walked away as the winner of ""Best In Show"". In that one weekend he made new friends and shared stories about cars, the importance of families and God. He never let an opportunity go to waste without sharing his love of God. Roy was a Vietnam Veteran. He enlisted in the US Air Force in 1971 and was stationed at Grand Forks Air Force Base, Grand Forks, North Dakota and Eielson Air Force Base in Fairbanks, Alaska. He was honorably discharged in 1977. Roy met Deborah (Anderson) in 1970, while in high school in a Debate & Speech class. Their first date was the senior prom and he picked her up in the 1957 Chevy (the very same car that still sits in the garage today). They were married in 1972 in Montgomery City, Missouri. Together they raised 2 wonderful children: Scott Glenn Erbschloe and Amber Dawn Erbschloe. Roy is survived by Deborah J Erbschloe, wife, Venice, FL, Scott G Erbschloe, son & Christine Erbschloe, daughter-in-law, Leicester, NC, Amber D Erbschloe, daughter, Newport, VA, Hunter Glenn Erbschloe, grandson, Leicester, NC, Ernie L Erbschloe , brother & Shirley Erbschloe, sister-in-law, Columbia, MO, Linda Hamilton, sister & Greg Hamilton, brother-in-law, Wright City, MO, nephews, Brandon Erbschloe (Lacey), Columbia, MO, Tim Hamilton, Troy, MO, Wally Hamilton, Troy, MO, Mark Hamilton, OFallon, MO, Todd Hamilton, OFallon, MO and a niece Sara Burns (Matt), Kansas City, MO and great nieces Zoe Burns, Kansas City, MO, and Kaitlyn Hamilton of Troy, MO.
