Roy Patrick
April 22nd, 1930 - December 4th, 2016
Roy George Patrick, 86, died Sunday, December 4, 2016 at Balfour Senior Living in Louisville, Colorado. He was born April 22, 1930 in Walsenburg, Colorado, the son of John and Mary (Paulovsky) Patrick. Roy is survived by a sister Betty (Patrick) Unfug, his children: Robin (Robert II) Deister, Ronda (Roger) Schritter, Brian Patrick, Dana Patrick (Ernie Ebbs), his grandchildren: Robert III (Lorae) Deister; Andrew Parkins; Hannah Parkins; his ex-wife: Mary (Clark) Hemmerle, his nieces and nephews: Kathy Hatch, Charlie (Barbara) Unfug, Karen Williams (Dick Monfort) and other family and friends. Roy is preceded in death by his parents, John and Mary (Paulovsky) Patrick, his brother-in-law Charles Daniel Unfug Jr., his grandson Tyler Parkins and his cousins, Andrew Ritz and Donna (Ritz) Mimovich. Roy was born in Walsenburg, Colorado on April 22, 1930. He graduated from Huerfano County High School in 1947 where he was a basketball guard. After he graduated high school, he joined the Navy in 1948 as a Seaman Apprentice and served on the aircraft carriers Antietam and Boxer. He and his father had a Standard Service Station in 1953 in Denver. When he left the service, he worked at the State Mental Hospital and enrolled at Pueblo Junior College. It was there he met Mary Anita Clark. They were married in Colorado Springs at St. Mary’s Cathedral on August 25, 1956. He was a salesman for Town Talk, Wonder Bread and Frito Lay. He lived in Walsenburg, Colorado Springs, Pueblo, Aurora, Northglenn, Westminster and Broomfield. First and foremost, Roy loved his family. He grew up in Walsenburg and enjoyed fishing, camping and hunting throughout Colorado. The Spanish Peaks in the distance always represented home. Roy wanted to share his love of the outdoors with his family and friends and there are many memories of camping and fishing with him over the years. He never missed a Bronco game and even went to a few Super Bowls in California. You didn’t want to get in a poker game with Roy because your wallet would be emptied quickly. He loved Shania Twain, Penny Press Word Searches and Westerns. He had a great sense of humor and beautiful blue eyes that twinkled when he told a funny story. He will be missed. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be given to these causes close to Roy’s heart: Aplastic Anemia, Lupus Foundation, M.S. Society and Second Wind. The family of Roy George Patrick wish to thank the people of All Veterans and Family in Christ Community Church.
