Ruby Mildred Newsome
August 20th, 1923 - August 26th, 2015
Ruby Mildred Hester Newsome was born on August 20, 1923 in Paris, Texas. She was the first of seven children born to Lindsey Lee Hester and Anita Ida Fisher. She confessed a hope in Christ and was baptized at an early age. Ruby was educated in the Paris, Texas School Systems and went on to Jarvis Christian College in Hawkins, Texas - graduating with a B.A. Degree in Education. Ruby met and later married Edward Eugene Newsome, Sr. in December 1949. To this union was born two sons. She moved to West Texas and taught Grades 1 & 2 in the Texas School Systems for 33 years before retiring. After retiring, Ruby moved to Arizona in 1983 to be with family. In 1994, she moved back to Dallas, Texas to be with her sons and to help care for her grandchildren. She was a wonderful mother and grandmother. She was very kind and loving. She really loved and enjoyed her family. She had such quiet and winning ways. After the grandchildren were grown up, Ruby moved back to Arizona in 2008. Sometime in 2009, she joined Canaan Missionary Baptist Church of Mesa, where she served until illness prevailed. During her illness, Ruby was especially patient, kind and grateful to her caregivers and medical staff who admired her for that. She remained easy-going, without complaining. In fact, much of the time, she suffered silently. Then, the last month or so, she gradually grew worse. However, she never gave up on God, and she trusted Him for her healing. She thrived on hearing the Word of God being read to her; hearing and singing Praise Songs, and offering and participating in private and group Prayer. Ruby went home to Glory on Wednesday, August 26, 2015. She was preceded in death by her husband, her mom and dad, her brother, Rogers Hester and her sister, Mable Dyer. She is survived by her two sons - Edward Eugene Newsome, Jr. of Dallas, TX; and Ronald Kevin Newsome of Gilbert, AZ; three sisters - Margaret Jones, Helen Scott, and Norma Washington - all of Mesa, AZ; one brother - Curtis Janie Hester of Chandler, AZ; two grandchildren - Marcus Behre Newsome and Ahdai Newsome Bates; three great-grands, all of Dallas, TX; many nieces and nephews, cousins and friends. She will be sorely missed by one and all.
