Ruby Wilkerson

May 29th, 1927 - August 9th, 2024

Ruby Wilkerson, 97, of Winter Haven, Florida, passed away on August 9, 2024 with her family by her side. She was born in Birmingham, Alabama, and moved to Winter Haven in 1932.

Ruby was a faithful member of First Baptist Church of Winter Haven. She taught Sunday school in various churches for over 50 years. She also was in the choir, taught in Vacation Bible School, and in the Young at Heart group. She enjoyed watching TV, especially “The Lawrence Welk Show.” She loved being a mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great-grandmother and keeping up with every part of their lives. She was always asking about all of them by name.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Alden and Lela Haynes; her loving husband, Floyd Wilkerson; her sisters, Edna Scarborough and Irene Nance; and her daughter, Belinda Brown. She is survived by her son, Jerry (Janet) Wilkerson; daughter, Melissa (Brian) Peckham; sister, Frankie Ewell; eleven grandchildren; fourteen great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. She was loved so much, and will be missed by all who knew and loved her.

Visitation will be Friday Aug 16 at 10:00 at First Baptist Church in Winter Haven with the funeral service following at 11:00. Interment will be at Auburndale Memorial Park following the funeral service.

My condolences to Jerry, Melissa, Frankie and the rest of Ruby's family. I never met Ruby, since I was born and raised in Michigan. Aunt Dovie mentioned her to me. Ruby's Dad was my Uncle Alden. My Mom was Ruth, daughter of R. N. (Noah) Haynes, Uncle Alden's brother, making us cousins. Will be praying for y'all. Steve, Janice (daughter of Ruth Haynes Warfield) and Stephen Bufford🙏
