Ruth H. Newell, age 89, of North Port, Florida, passed away on August 31, 2007 in Port Charlotte, Florida. She was the daughter of the late Cora and William Kruger of Buffalo, New York, wife of the late Irving C. Newell and mother of a daughter and a son, Suzanne N. Mancha and Walter I. Newell, both of Maryland. She was predeceased by grandson, David Newell, and son-in-law Joseph Granic. She was the grandmother of five, Joanne Carpenter o Laurel, MD, Joseph C. Granic of Westminster, MD, Matthew W Granic of Aurora, CO, Amy Meloche of Westminster, MD and Kari Newell of Pikesvlle. She is the great-grandmother of Joseph Granic, Cassandra Granic, Adam Granic, Austin Granic and Emma Meloche. She was a fine needle worker, excellent cook, square dancer and loved to travel. She worked for and in the school cafeteria in Arcade, New York and also worked in Coppola’s Restaurant in Buffalo, New York. She was a volunteer of many hundreds of hours for the Senior Center of North Port. A graveside service will be held on Tuesday, September 11, 2007 – 1:30PM at Venice Memorial Gardens. Farley Funeral Home in North Port, Florida is handling the arrangements.
