Sadie Cunningham Burg
March 29th, 1926 - October 7th, 2018
Sadie Cunningham Burg, 92, of Lynchburg, passed peacefully early Sunday, October 7, 2018 to be with her Lord and Savior. She was the widow of Charles E. Burg. Born March 29, 1926, in Campbell County, Sadie was a daughter of the late Wilkes C. and Myrtle Clowdis Cunningham. After high school graduation she attended Phillips Business College. She was a current member of Inglewood Baptist Church and formerly Falling River Baptist Church in Brookneal. Previously she and her husband operated Chas. E. Burg Florist for many years. After retirement,Sadie worked at Nice As New until failing health prevented her from working. Sadie is survived by two brothers, Billy L. Cunningham (Joan), C. Wayne Cunningham and three sisters, Glennie C. Singleton, Rebecca C. Tackett (Edward) and Patty C. Coleman (Neal). Sadie was the beloved aunt to numerous nieces and nephews. In addition, several neighborhood children considered Sadie their “other grandmother”. She was very helpful in caring for her aging parents. She was preceded in death by two brothers, David M. Cunningham and Wilkes C. Cunningham, Jr. and two sisters, Arline C. Riley and Lois C. Farrar. Sadie will live on in the hearts of many. The family wishes to thank the sixth floor staff of the Drinkard Health Center at Westminster Canterbury and her Centra Hospice nurses. A funeral service will be held Thursday, October 11, 2018 at 11:00 A.M. at Diuguid Wiggington Road Chapel with Pastor Kathy Nicholls officiating. Burial will be in Spring Hill Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Inglewood Baptist Church, 4830 Old Boonsboro Rd., Lynchburg, VA 24503 or a charity of your choice.
