Sam left this earth for greener pastures on September 18, 2008. His wife Robin, his sons Matthew and Marcus, his mother Leona, and grandson Alexzander survive Sam. His Father “Lucky” Bender preceded him in death April 4, 2007. Raised in a military family he upheld the tradition by joining the Army. His son Matthew followed his footsteps by joining the United States Marine Corps. Sam was an avid bowler. He bowled two perfect games and taught his sons and wife to excel in the sport, and his passion, that he loved so much. He also loved baseball, Sam and his family would regularly attend the Rockies games. He was also an avid Denver Bronco fan, never missing a game. On Sundays, Sam would sit with his family and watch the games on the big screen. He always said that the best seat in the house was on the couch. As much as he supported his favorite teams, he supported his family with an even greater passion. He encouraged his loving wife to become a registered nurse despite her doubts. Sam also supported his sons, helping them to become the men that they are today. Sam was a quiet, reserved man, but always spoke with great wisdom and humor. Sam was always looking out for the health and welfare of his family, nothing concerned him more. Sam was many things, and a wonderful man. Above all, Sam was a caring father, a loving husband, and a devoted family man. Sam will always be remembered forever, by all that loved and knew him for the great man he was. All of our thoughts and prayers are with you dad. We love you. Also survived by: Brother and Sister-n-law MSgt Retired Anthony R Bender & Crystal J Bender of Alamogordo New Mexico Niece Capt.
