Sandra Rose Decker
February 28th, 1942 - June 8th, 2014
Sandra Rose Decker, of Cloquet passed away Sunday, June 8, 2014 at the age of 72 years, 3 months and 11 days, after a long and brave battle with cancer. She was born on February 28, 1942 in Tracy, MN to Frank and Rose Hogen. The last of six children and the only one to be born in a hospital, she grew up in Lucan and graduated from Milroy High School in 1960. Following her marriage to George M. Decker on September 14, 1963 she made her home in Cloquet and went on to raise their four children. During the 70's and 80's she was active in the Mrs. Jaycees and the 11 Meter Mounties C.B. Club. Her hobbies included sewing, baking cookies and pies, doing word fill-ins, playing bingo, and of course she loved spending time with her children and grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, Frank and Rose; sisters, Lucille Holznagel and Helen Jorgenson; and brothers, Frances, Donald, and James Hogen. Sandra is survived by her husband of 50 years, George; son, Jerry of Blaine; daughters, Michele (Jerome) Meier of Lakeville, Teresa Decker of Duluth, and Jennifer Decker of Cloquet; four grandchildren, Bailey and Jake Decker and Emily and Olivia Meier; brother-in-law, Gene (Betty) Lavan of Cloquet; sisters-in-law, Delores Hogen of Redwood and Delores Hogen of Lucan; and many nieces, nephews, grandnieces, and grandnephews. Memorial services were held on Saturday, June 21, 2014 in the Atkins-Northland Funeral Home, 801 14th Street, Cloquet. A time of fellowship followed in the fireside room of the funeral home.
