Sandra “Sandy” Jean Switzer-Alvis, 78, of Lynchburg, passed away Monday, January 25, 2021 at her residence. She was the wife of Richard “Dick” Alvis, Sr. She was retired from First Presbyterian Church and a member of Inglewood Baptist Church. In addition to her husband, Dick, she is survived by her sister, Judith Marion Stallings and brother-in-law, Dr. Emmett Francis Stallings; step-son, Richard E. Alvis, Jr. and daughter-in-law, Donna; step-grandchildren, Branden Alvis, Blake Alvis; step-great grandchildren, Cyndi Gillie, Michelle Green, niece, Dr. Melody Lee Stallings-Mann and nephew Myron Francis Stallings; her grandnieces, Sarah Mann, Lauren Mann and Cassie Stallings; grand nephews, Christopher Mann and Grant Stallings. A funeral service will be held Saturday, January 30, 2021 at 2:00 PM at Diuguid Wiggington Road Chapel with Rev. Dan G. Mason officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Diuguid Funeral Service & Crematory, Wiggington Road Chapel, 385-8900, is serving the family.
