Sandy Irene Contreras

Sandy Contreras, 57, of Colorado Springs, passed away in her home May 15, 2019. She was born July 4, 1961 in Illinois.Throughout her life, she lived in California, Arizona, and Colorado. Sandy loved the outdoors, and enjoyed hiking, fishing, and camping. She was a great believer in the Lord and was of Christian faith. She loved making crafts. Through her creativity, she could add color, glitter, love, and imagination to make anything beautiful.Sandy worked as a Customer Service associate in the retail and call center fields. Her younger co-workers often and affectionately called her "mom." In her youth, she also worked in fast food, as well as a nursing home. During her time at the home, Sandy shone her work ethic and compassion by always speaking words of encouragement and caring for her elderly residents.Whether it was taking a drive on a nice day, making a run to Dollar Tree for her many craft ideas, or just watching a movie with her son and husband, Sandy loved spending time with her family. She enjoyed cooking for them, her specialty being her famous mashed potatoes.Sandy was always generous with her love, taking time to speak kind words and offer a hug. Her pet cats, Audrey and Max; and puppy, Sophie, were often showered with affection. She enjoyed bringing them surprise treats such as toys, bones and cat nip. Sandy loved getting into the spirit of the seasons and holidays. It was always a delight to see her wearing socks embroidered with pumpkins on them in October, or donning a sweater decorated with a smiling turkey in November.
