Sara Rodman Gray
January 21st, 1920 - November 23rd, 2016
Sara Rodman Gray of Mt. Pleasant, South Carolina, formerly of West Columbia, passed away on Wednesday, November 23, 2016. She was born on January 21, 1920 in Rodman, South Carolina to John Marion Rodman and Mattie Mae Carson Rodman. Sara is survived by a daughter, Carolyn Mutch of Mt. Pleasant; son, Jimmy Gray of Leesville; three grandchildren, Steve Elliott of Lexington, Carl Mutch (Casey) of Mt. Pleasant and Anna M. Bolen (Rick) of Mt. Pleasant; four great grandchildren, Riley Elliott of Lexington, Jacob Bolen and Anna Grace Bolen of Mt. Pleasant, and Molly May McCaughan of Mt. Pleasant; and a number of nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, James L. Gray, daughter Deborah McAllister, and nine sisters and brothers. Sara attended Midlands Tech and the University of South Carolina and was an accomplished lifelong artist. She was a homemaker and loved to garden. She was a WWII Navy veteran and was so proud to be on the first Honors Flight out of Columbia, S.C. to Washington, D.C. Funeral services will be at Thompson Funeral Home at Greenlawn Memorial Park, 845 Leesburg Road, Columbia, S.C. 29209 on Tuesday, November 29, 2016 at 2 pm. Family will receive friends following the service in the Community Room of the Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Northside Baptist Church, 4347 Sunset Blvd, Lexington, SC 29072.

Greenlawn Memorial Park is one of Columbia's most historic perpetual care cemeteries. This gorgeous setting combines serenity, natural beauty, and diligent care for generations of families. North Lake, located in the center of our park, offers a water feature and is the site of many local events, including an annual Easter sunrise service, a Greenlawn tradition for over 50 years. The park also has a veteran's section, private family estates, a columbarium with niches for cremated remains, and an incredible granite mausoleum....
