Sarah "Donnie" Carmichael

Sarah "Donnie" Carmichael, 94, of Haines City, Fl, passed away Sunday, December 30, 2012 from heart failure while under Hospice care at Savannah Court where she was a resident since 2003. Donnie worked at the Lake Hamilton Packing House, (now Dundee Citrus), for many years along with her husband Clyde, who was the managing supervisor. Her greatest joy came from cooking and feeding her family and friends. A visit at her home was sure to end up at the kitchen table and if you were lucky, you might get to experience her famous buttermilk bisquits or chicken and dumplings. But it was the visit' combined with the food that made it magic. Being with Donnie in her home made you feel so relaxed that it was common for large numbers of family to just take a nap while there. Donnie's recipes will be enjoyed for many generations to come, but her family can only hope to make people feel the way she did when she served all of us who were privileged to know her. Donnie is preceded in death by her parents Bryant Ezelle Trice and Ada White Trice, her husband Clyde H. Carmichael, her granddaughter Lisa Rubush Chamlee and son in law, Jack E. Rubush. She is survived by daughter Shirley Rubush of Winter Haven, Fl, sons Wayne Carmichael (Sissy) of Dunnellon, Donald Carmichael (Linda) of Crystal River, Fl, granddaughters Debbie Rubush Winter and Gloria Crosby of Winter Haven, Fl, grandsons Ryan (Danielle) of Atlanta, Ga, Chris Carmichael, Jason Carmichael (Dawn), and Daniel Carmichael (Heather). Donnie also leaves behind many great grandchildren including Malia Chamlee Langston (David), Sarah Chamlee, and Emma Carmichael, and great great grandchild Madilyn Langston. Family and friends are welcome to attend a memorial service to honor Donnie on Tuesday, January 15th at Oak Ridge Funeral Care Chapel, 1001 Grace Ave., Haines City, Fl.
