Sarah Dorothy Herbert

Sarah Dorothy Herbert passed away on Saturday, September 8th in Colorado Springs, Colorado. Born December 1st, 1972 in Thunder Bay, she spent much of her childhood growing up in Hymers, later moving to the city to attend Fort William Collegiate Institute and Lakehead University, where she completed her degrees in English, History and Education. During this time, she caught the travel bug and spent much of her remaining life travelling through Asia and Europe. Sarah taught in South Korea, London, England, and Belfast, NI. Sarah had a passion for fine food, music, yoga, and the arts. She was a talented, generous lady who touched many people with her kind heart, infectious personality and keen sense of humour. She had a particular interest in supporting food banks wherever she lived, as well as animal shelters. Sarah felt the education of women globally was of great importance in the quest for greater security for women and children internationally. She remained engaged in these and other causes throughout her adult life. Sarah is survived by her loving husband, Major Eugene Conrad, and her son, Alexander Joseph (Sascha) Conrad. She will be sadly missed by her parents, Lynne and Peter Herbert, and her siblings, Amanda Brooks (Ryan) and Joseph Herbert (Diana), her nieces and nephews, and numerous other relatives. Services will be held at a later date in Colorado Springs, CO, and Toronto, ON, with a private family service held in Edmonton, AB.
