Sarah (Sarita) Isabel Martinez Our beautiful mother, Sarah passed away on Monday, February 13, 2023, at her home in Day Spring Villas. Her presence, warmth, smile and a charisma that was all her own will be missed by her family and friends. A funeral Mass in her honor will be celebrated on Friday, February 24, 2023, at 10:00 a.m. at St. Anthony of Padua, Denver, Co. Prior to mass, a viewing will begin at 9:00 a.m., Rosary will be recited at 9:30 a.m. and interment will follow at Mount Olivet Cemetery in Wheat Ridge, Colorado and a luncheon will follow. Sarah Isabel Trujillo was born on January 4, 1933, daughter of Rafael and Delfina (Sandoval) Trujillo in La Florida, Colorado where she lived in her early years. On August 6, 1952, she married Albert Stephen Martinez. They resided in the Layton/Clinton, Utah, area for the next 40 years. Sarah moved to the Denver area in the early 1980s. Sarah earned her bachelor's degree in Elementary Education in 1977 and taught in Davis County schools and Denver Public schools. In her later years, Sarah enjoyed her house cleaning business along home care for senior citizens. Sarah was the proud and loving mother to 11 children and enjoyed her kids, grandkids, extended family, and friends! She had many hobbies that she enjoyed including an avid gardener on their small family farm in Utah. She enjoyed growing flowers, crocheting, quilting, sewing, canning, and was the best cook ever! Sarah loved music and dancing, she was a devout in her Catholic faith and volunteered for the Archdiocese Churches throughout Denver. Sarah also volunteered her time in classrooms and shared her love for reading. Sarah also enjoyed her Daysprings Villa family and had many friends who will miss her. Sarah is survived by her children: Sylvia Martinez (Roger Sala), Rebecca Martinez, Albert Martinez (Linda), Pat White (Rob), Waldo Martinez, Froy Martinez, Rex Martinez, Tom Martinez (Kennya), Lucy Simpson (Mike), Paul Martinez, Perry Martinez; brothers: Tony Trujillo (Louise), Danny Trujillo (Norma); sisters: Celina Redding, Helen Gutierrez, Porfie DeHerrera (Eliseo), FeeNee Duncan (Roger); 23 grandchildren and 28 great-grandchildren, as well as many dear nieces and nephews. Sarah was preceded in death by her husband Albert, her grandchildren Matthew Garcia, Michael Martinez, Shawn Martinez, and Patrick Martinez, as well as her siblings Lucy and Enos Ruybal, Raphael and Inez Trujillo, Adelia and Sam Gutierrez, and Willie Trujillo.
