Lexington - Funeral service for Sarah Lee Mathias, 89, of Lexington, will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, August 27, 2014 at Lexington Baptist Church with the Reverend Dr. Mike Turner, Reverend Jerry Freeman and Reverend Dan Williams officiating. Pallbearers will be Jason Morris, Wayne Vermullen, Jay Smith, Michael Mathias, Michael Ball, Mike Baker and Bart McCarter. Honorary pallbearers will be the Morning Senior Friends and The Sessions Sunday School Class. Burial will follow in Woodridge Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday, August 26, 2014 at Thompson Funeral Home, Lexington Chapel. Mrs. Mathias passed away on Sunday, August 24, 2014. She was born in Woodland, NC on June 4, 1925 to the late John Henry Liverman, Sr. and Sarah Lee Liverman. She was the wife of the late Fred Mathias, Sr. She was a devoted, loving wife, praying mother, grandmother and great-grandmother that always put the needs of her family before her own. She was sharp as a tack and had a great sense of humor. She was a member of Lexington Baptist Church where she served her Sunday School Class as treasurer for many years. She loved her Sunday School Class and her senior group of friends. Surviving are her children, Susan Seay (J.W.) of Lexington, Fred Mathias (Alfreida) of Lexington, Barbara Husman (Mike) of Lexington, David Mathias (Dianne) of Lexington, Nancy Wright (Jamie) of Columbia and Steve Mathias (Allison) of Lexington; grandchildren, Heather Morris (Jason), Ingrid Vermullen (Wayne), Mandy Smith (Jay), Michael Mathias (Madelyn), Kelli Ball (Michael), Abbie Baker (Mike), Sara McCarter (Bart), Claire Mathias, Lauren Wright, Jessica Wright, Grace, Emily, Mary Claire and Anna Mathias; 14 great-grandchildren; and a sister, Hilda Bryant of Williamston, NC. In addition to her parents and her husband of 50 years, she was predeceased by her brother, John Henry Liverman, Jr. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Lexington Baptist Church Building Fund, 308 East Main Street, Lexington, SC 29072
