Services for SFC Carroll Paul Shivers, Sr. of West Columbia, SC will be held on Thursday, December 22, 2016 at 10:00 a.m. at Thompson Funeral Home, 200 State Street, West Columbia, SC with burial to follow at Fort Jackson National Cemetery. Visitation will be from 9:00 until 10:00 a.m. at the funeral home. Carroll served two tours in Vietnam. During his career, he received six good conduct medals, Purple Heart, meritorious unit citation, and 3 oak leaf cluster awards. Mr. Shivers was born June 28, 1933 to the late George Franklin and Sally Dormany Shivers. He is survived by his wife, Dawn C. Shivers; daughters, Sally Ann Jedziniak (Lee), Shelley Page; Son, Carroll Paul Shivers, JR (Jean); sisters, Margaret Wood (F.D.), Jean Golden (Jimmy); brothers, Joseph Shivers (Myrtie) and Ronnie Shivers (Brenda); and nine grandchildren. Mr. Shivers was retired from the US Army after 21 years and Richland Memorial Hospital.
