Sgt. Major Henry Eugene Caison, 83, of Columbia, SC, went home to be with Jesus on March 1, 2024. He was surrounded by love with his family by his side. Henry was born March 7, 1940 at James Memorial Hospital in Wilmington, NC to the late Hurie Eugene Caison and late Catherine Caison Payne. Henry was preceded in death by his mother and father; his daughter, Wendy Britt; his twin sister, Jean Oiler; sister, Janice Marmor; and brother, Kenneth Caison. He is survived by the love of his life and mate for 63 years, Melanie Butler Caison; his son, Michael Caison; his brother, Harry Caison and wife, Mary; sisters, Ruby Bryan and Terry Payne; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Bill and Judy Hasting, Sgt. 1st Class John and Roxanne Butler, and Keith and Shirley Edwards; along with many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Henry entered the US Army in 1958. He was involved in numerous overseas duties and assignments. He was awarded four bronze medals. He retired from the Army after 28 years of service. He also retired from Dorn VA Hospital after 25 years of service. He was proud to serve the US Army, and he will be missed by all of his friends and family. Service details will be announced shortly.
