Memorial

Sharon Elaine "Reed" DeMayo passed away after a lengthy battle with cancer at the age of 59. She was born and raised on the Monterey Peninsula. She graduated from Monterey High School and received a certificate of Business Administration at MPC. Although she spent most of her life in Monterey, she also lived in New Jersey and Germany for a time. Sharon was a computer technician and homemaker who loved knitting and crocheting. She also loved fostering dogs as over the years she had become very involved with the SPCA and passed on her love of animals to her children. Sharon gave her life to Christ at a very young age and had an unwavering faith in God. She was a member of First Assembly of God Church in Seaside where she served as a Missionette. Sharon was preceded in death by her father, George Reed, Sr. She is survived by her loving husband of 40 years, Jeffrey Francis DeMayo; her daughter, Leann Marie DeMayo; her sons, Jason Reed DeMayo (Veronica) and Daniel Reed DeMayo (Jeanette). She is also survived by her 3 sisters, 2 brothers, 3 grandchildren, 4 nieces, and 7 nephews. A Memorial Service will be held on Friday, Dec. 30th at Mission Memorial Park & Seaside Funeral Home, 1915 Ord Grove Ave. beginning at 12pm. Burial at Mission Memorial Park will follow. Donations may be made in Sharon's memory to the SPCA.

Mission Memorial Park

Mission Memorial Park

For almost 100 years, our cemetery has served the residents of the Monterey Bay Area. Mission Memorial Park opened in 1934 as Mission Memorial Cemetery and for many years was run by the City of Monterey. In 1988, Monterey Peninsula Mortuary opened on the grounds of our beautiful Seaside location. In 2007 we closed our Chapel of Seaside at our Noche Buena location and merged the two to become Mission Mortuary & Memorial Park....
