Shirley Mills (Moody), of Broomfield, CO, died peacefully on February 20, 2016 after a long battle with breast cancer. She was 69. Shirley was born on December 17, 1946 in Fresno, CA to parents Robert and Marie Moody (Siska). She graduated from the University of Colorado Nursing School in 1968. She raised her family and pursued her nursing career in Boulder, CO. Shirley was a dedicated nurse for 47 years. She took great pride in her job and loved caring for her patients. When diagnosed with breast cancer in 2009, she remained dedicated in her work and in her will to fight this illness. She remained a brave, strong-willed woman, even throughout her final months. Shirley loved the Colorado mountains where she enjoyed hiking, biking, and all the beauty they had to offer. She actively worked with the Broomfield Spellbinders, telling stories to children throughout the Broomfield area. She filled her free time gardening, playing the piano and spending time with her children and grandchildren. Shirley is survived by her two loving children and their spouses, Carissa and Craig Mahonchak and Devin and Angelina Mills; her grandchildren Caden and Cambrie Mahonchak and Greyson and Jordan Mills, as well as her sisters, Sally Scholderer and Barbara McNeil; her brothers, Terry and Wayne Moody; and numerous nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents. Shirley requested to be cremated. Her ashes will be scattered following her memorial service May 21, 2016.
