Shulan Liu

On August 24, 2024, Shulan Liu passed away surrounded by her family.  She was 94 years old.  She was a beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend who will be dearly missed. 

Born in Nanyang, China, Shulan was the third of six siblings.  She met her husband in 1950 and married one year later in Wuhan, China.  After the birth of her eldest daughter, the family moved to Taiyuan, China, where Shulan had a son and two more daughters.  She worked as an administrative assistant at Taiyuan Steel Plant until her retirement in 1986.  Despite a workplace injury in her 30s that made walking difficult, Shulan persevered to regain her health and cared for not only her children, but also multiple grandchildren, throughout her life.  

Shulan was outgoing and loved visiting with her neighbors in both her native China and in the United States, where she immigrated in the early 2000s to join her eldest daughter’s family.  She was also kind, hardworking, and independent, continuing to live on her own until the age of 90 in a Chinese senior community in Phoenix, Arizona.  During the last 4 years of her life, Shulan enjoyed spending time with her family in Arizona and staying in touch with her family in China.  

Shulan is predeceased by her husband, son, and five siblings.  She is survived by her three daughters, five grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren.  Her ashes will be returned to her beloved China, where she will join her husband at her final resting place.

2024年8月24日，刘树岚在家人的陪伴下去世。 享年 94岁。  她是一位被深爱的母亲、祖母、外祖母，外曾祖母和朋友，我们将深深怀念她。 

树岚出生于中国南阳，在六个兄弟姐妹中排行第三。  她于 1950 年认识她的丈夫，一年后他们在中国武汉结婚。  大女儿出生后，全家搬到了中国太原，在那里又生了一个儿子和两个女儿。 

1986年退休前，树岚在太原钢铁厂担任行政助理。30多岁的时候，她因工受伤，至使行走困难。但在随后的岁月里，她努力恢复健康，坚持工作，一生不仅养育了自己的四个孩子，还帮带看了孙女，外孙女，和外孙子。   

树岚性格开朗，不论是在中国还是美国，她乐于拜访邻居，与邻居和睦相处。树岚具有普通中国人的美德，一生善良，勤俭。她于 2000 年代初移民美国，加入了大女儿的家庭。  树岚也很独立。她在亚利桑那州凤凰城的一个老年公寓坚持独自生活到90岁。  在生命的最后四年里，她住在大女儿家，在小女儿与大女儿的共同陪伴照料下以及国内亲人的关怀中，享度晚年。 

树岚的丈夫、儿子和五个兄弟姐妹先于她去世。  她身后留下了三个女儿、一个孙女，俩个外孙女，俩个外孙子，一个外曾孙子，一个外曾孙女。  她的骨灰将被送回到她深爱的祖国——中国，她将与丈夫一起安息。
