Simon D'Lima, 89, of Venice passed away December 9, 2013. Simon was born March 18, 1924 in Karachi Pakistan to Liberata (Sequeira) and Michael D'Lima. Simon was educated in Karachi Pakistan and earned a Bachelor of Education degree. He taught mathematics at St. Patrick's High School in Karachi, and went on to become Principal of PAF Model School also in Karachi. He then went on to own and operate St Peters High School in Karachi Pakistan. He taught for over 50 years and had the honor of educating many notable leaders, including the former President of Pakistan. In his younger years, he played field hockey and became quite proficient. He was a world traveler and enjoyed watching old Western movies, dancing, dining out and regularly attended church every day. He was preceded in death by his wife, Olive D'Lima (Thomas), 1 brother and 3 sisters. Survivors include his son, Glenn (wife, Kelley) D'Lima of Venice FL ; son Michael D'Lima of Hollywood FL , Daughter Marilyn Khan (husband, Khalil) of Karachi, 7 grandchildren, several great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews, (especially Marie Braganza (husband, Darryl), and Regina Gonsalves. Farley Funeral Home, Venice Chapel, is handling arrangements. In lieu of flowers, Memorial Donations may be made to Tidewell Hospice at tidewell.org.
