Sitaramaiah Ravipati
December 31st, 2020
Sitaramaiah Ravipati, known to family and friends as Ramu, peacefully passed away at home on December 31, 2020 at the age of 81. He is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Jhansi (Nallamothu) Ravipati. He felt blessed to have 2 healthy children: Sarath (Carla); Sashi (Cole) Racho and 6 grandchildren: Maya, Deven, Casey, Karina, Josie, and Sonya. Ramu was born in India and immigrated to the United States in 1961 to attend graduate school at the Polytechnical Institution of Brooklyn, NY. Ramu lived in Albany, NY for 46 years before moving to Venice, Florida. While in Albany, he was employed at Norton Company and later started his own engineering consulting company – SRR Consulting. For 25 years Ramu's company advised clients across a variety of industries globally. Ramu was very engaged in his local community. He was a founding father of the Albany Hindu Society and a prominent member of the United Way. He had the honor of being chosen to run with the Olympic Torch when it went through upstate New York in 1996 in light of his work on behalf of United Way. Ramu spent the later years of his life in Venice, Florida where he continued his dedication to serving his community by volunteering with Venice Area Mobile Meals. Outside of his community service, Ramu enjoyed playing golf, bridge, gardening, and sunsets. Ramu had a great love for adventure and traveled to over 50 countries. His zest for life allowed him to dive head first into any daring experience. He loved spending time with his family, especially with his six grandchildren. His laughter, enthusiasm and energy were contagious. He had the unique ability to make everyone around him feel at ease. Ramu was first in line to lend a hand to someone in need and the last to leave. He impacted many lives and will be remembered as a mentor, friend and counselor to all the lives he touched. Ramu was surrounded by the faith, love, and laughter of his family and friends until the very end. On January 8, 2021 a private Funeral was held at the Farley Funeral Home in Venice. A celebration of his life will be held at a later date.
