SMSGT Gary L. Froyd, USAF, (Ret.) passed away unexpectedly at his home on January 1, 2017. He had served his country honorably for twenty-one years in the United States Air Force. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and friend.Gary Lee Froyd was born on September 25, 1945 in Nodaway County, Missouri to the late Leonard and Thelma (McDonald) Froyd. He grew up in Maryville, Missouri and graduated from high school there. He then joined the Air Force and made it his career, serving in Vietnam; Alaska; Panama City, Florida; Colorado Springs, Colorado; and at NORAD.He married LaVerna "Jean" Froyd on February 7, 1982 near Eleven Mile Reservoir. Gary was an avid outdoor enthusiast and enjoyed fishing and hunting.
