Memorial

Sonya Ryne Beatriz Romero of Brighton, Colorado, shot up to the heavens on July 2, 2020. Sonya was born on February 14, 1983, in Englewood, Colorado; to Elena Guerrero Townsend as a young adult her stepfather Henry E. Townsend IV adopted her. He was a proud Papa. She married Eric Christopher Romero in 2000. Sonya's purpose in life was motherhood; she loved her five babies. She was funny, strong-willed, and had a contagious smile. Younger neighbors and friends of her kids said she was like a big sister or mom to them. If challenged, she wouldn't back down, and those who knew her understand what I mean. Her family and friends also remember her as being artistic, gorgeous, and smart. Her creativity amazed her family. She was a wonderful face-painter, avid gardener, and wonderful cook. Sonya passed her curly hair and strong will onto her children. She was full of life, and her absence will affect us profoundly for years to come. Her maternal grandmother Beatrice Florez Guerrero preceded Sonya in death in 2014. She is now survived by her sons Azadian, Armani, and Gabriel, daughters Bianca, Ariannah Romero of Elizabeth, CO, sister Amanda Delgado-Morgan (Eugene) and nephew Josiah Morgan of Brighton, CO, father, Anthony (Debbie) Martinez, sisters Angela Martinez, Crystal Martinez, and brothers Anthony Martinez, Jr., (Chico) Nicholas of La Junta, CO. She has ten aunts and eight uncles, seven nieces, and five nephews. She was expecting her first grandchild in November. She has a large number of cousins who she adored. Her name will live on, her sister Amanda is naming her daughter, who is due in September, Sonya. God bless, Elena Graveside Services Rocky Ford Cemetery, Rocky Ford, CO. Wednesday, July 15th 10 A.M.
