Stephen Ray Dawkins
November 20th, 1941 - June 14th, 2013
WEST COLUMBIA - Funeral services for Stephen Ray Dawkins, 71, of West Columbia, will be held at 2:30pm Tuesday, June 18, 2013 at Holland Avenue Baptist Church. Officiating will be Rev. Charles Wilson. Burial will follow in Greenlawn Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 6-8pm Monday at Thompson Funeral Home of Lexington. Mr. Dawkins, husband of the late Ann Palmer Dawkins, passed away on Friday, June 14, 2013. Born in Columbia, he was the son of the late Aubrey Alonzo Dawkins and Pansy Boone Dawkins. He was an active member of Holland Avenue Baptist Church, a 1960 graduate of Brookland-Cayce High School, served as an MP in the National Guard, and a graduate of Midlands Technical College. He worked in the glass business and owned the business for over 30 years. Mr. Dawkins was an active parent in assisting, coaching and directing baseball for Cayce-West Columbia Colt league in the late 1970's to mid 1980's. He gave unselfishly and was very supportive of many family, community and ministry needs. Surviving are his children, Stephen W. Dawkins (Christina) of Gaston, Mike Dawkins (Kay) of West Columbia and Dee Ann Dawkins Watts (Shawn) of Pine Ridge; brother, Ronnie Dawkins of Lexington; grandchildren, Stephen, Brandon, Michael, Elizabeth, and Matthew Dawkins, Rachel Ann, Gabriel, and Noah Dawkins, Kimber Watts Brazell (Cameron), Kayln, and Kyle Watts; great-granddaughter, Kayden Brazell. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Holland Avenue Baptist Church, 801 12th Street, Cayce, SC 29033 for Moldovan Missions.
