Steve L. Nettles, Venice, Florida died March 29, 2010. Steve was born October 16, 1937 in Lake City, Florida. His parents were Steve Ritch Nettles and Frances Wheatley Nettles. Steve attended Columbia High School in Lake City, Florida and graduated from Leon High School at Tallahassee in 1955. He was a member of Coach Roger Englert’s Leon High 1954 “Polio” football team. After graduation from Florida State University in 1963, Steve began a career in the automotive industry with General Motors. He retired from Bill Buck Chevrolet in 2006. Steve enjoyed a rewarding career in sales, marketing and management of General Motors automobiles and trucks for forty-three years. He made many friends throughout South Georgia, North Florida and South Florida that lasted a lifetime. Steve was a Veteran of Florida Army National Guard. Steve was initated into the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks in Valdosta Elks Lodge. Port Charlotte Elk’s Lodge honored him with Life Membership in 2002. Steve was preceded in death by his wife Marilynn “Micki” Zuiderveen Nettles. Surviors are Sons Steve L. Nettles, Jr. of Alamo, California and Rodney S. Nettles of Naples, Florida, brother Stanley (Barbara) Nettles of Tallahassee, Florida, sisters Joyce (Pete) Spurlock of Lake City, Florida, and Patricia (Joe) Mills of O’Brien, Florida, one grandson and many nephews, nieces, grandnephews and grandnieces.
