Stuart Perry Swanson
April 3rd, 1942 - April 24th, 2015
Stuart Perry Swanson, 73, of Carlton passed away peacefully on Thursday, April 23, 2015 in St. Mary's Hospital in Rochester. Stuart was born on April 3, 1942 in Cloquet to Herman and Esther Swanson. He was the oldest of 7 children. Stuart grew up in Blackhoof Valley and graduated Barnum High School in 1960. He received his Bachelor's Degree in Education from UMD. Stuart married his High School Sweetheart, Marilyn and together they had three children. He chose a career selling Insurance in Cloquet. His hobbies included, hunting, fishing, snowmobiling, gardening, and garage putzing. He loved his Harleys, his Mustang, his Ford Rangers, and his John Deere tractor. In 1994 he met Donna Koivisto and they married in 1999. She died tragically in 2005. The final love of his life was Debbie Malais who lives in California and was with Stuart when he died. Stuart was preceded in death by his parents; first wife, Marilyn Margulies, second wife, Donna Swanson; brother, Sherman Swanson; brother-in-law, Dennis Karp; and nephew, Robbie Swanson. Stuart is survived by close friend Debbie Malais of Lake Elsinore, California, children, Troy (Debora) Swanson, Tanis Carter, Greg (Ivanna) Swanson, Kristie (Roger) Petersen, Kim (Keith) Lammi; grandchildren, Cianna, Ryan, Katia, Landon, Zackary, Nathan, Alex, Kaeden and Ariel; siblings, Susan Karp, Butch Swanson, Rochelle (Chuck) Rilea, Mitch (Julie) Swanson and Teresa Swanson; sister-in-law, Betty (Ron) Swanson Peterson; and lifelong friend, Jerry Shurb; best friend, Ron Puckett; his Florida friends in Holiday Village; and the poker community. Funeral services were held on Monday, April 27, 2015 in Our Savior's Lutheran Church, 615 12th St., Cloquet. A time of lunch and fellowship followed in the church social hall.
