Susan Lord-Allen
March 9th, 1952 - May 30th, 2022
Sue passed away peacefully on May 30, 2022. She was predeceased by her husband, David Lord. Survived by her beloved husband Eugene Allen; her children Ronald (Jane) Lord, Eileen (Chris) Rizzo; and Jeff Lord. As well as by Gene's daughter, Joni Moore. She had nine grandchildren and fourteen great-grandhildren. Siblings Carol (Jim) Dilgard, Nancy (Bob) Beeley, Jim (Barb) Yockel, Mary (Tim) Flynn, Margaret (Rick) Case, Betsy (Dick) Ellis, Patty Attoma, Kathy (John) Westerman and Laurie (Mike) Wilkin. Many nieces and nephews, lifelong friends in Rochester, New York, her many good friends at Pelican Pointe, the Relay for Life community and many friends in the Venice area. Sue was born in Rochester, New York where she graduated with a Bachelor Degree from Rochester Institute of Technology and had a successful career with Eastman Kodak Company. She settled in Venice and built her home at Pelican Pointe. With Sue's magnetic personality and her true love of people she soon developed a wonderful life in Venice. A friend introduced her to Gene and they built a beautiful life together. She was a volunteer for the American Cancer Society in Venice and Sarasota. As a survivor of a rare sinus cancer herself, she knew the challenges battling the disease. Since 1999, she served in a variety of rolls including local chair of the CPS-3 cancer prevention study. She recieved many National, State, and local awards for dedication. she led the Venice Relay for Life Event, formed the Pelican Pointe Relay for Life team, and was team captain for Pelican Pointe, which raised over one million dollars. Sue was a kind, loving person who was a friend to all. she will be sadly missed. A Funeral Mass will be held on Friday, June 17, 2022 at Our Lady of Lourdes Church, Center Road, Venice at 10:30 am.
