August 27th, 1939 - July 8th, 2012
Suzanne "Suzy" Lichtman (Hausmann), Loving and Loved Wife, Mother, Grandmother, Sister, Aunt and FriendSuzy Lichtman passed away on July 8, 2012, at the age of 72. She was born in Strasbourg, France. Within moments of being born, Suzy was placed in a picnic basket and evacuated from the hospital just before it was bombed. She came to the United States when she was 3 years old and grew up in Miami Beach. At a young age, Suzy was a concert pianist, playing for audiences that included President Truman and Eleanor Roosevelt. When she was 18, while attending college at the University of Miami, Suzy met the love of her life Barry Lichtman, by whom she is survived after 54 years of marriage. Suzy was a remarkably positive individual, whose spirit uplifted those around her. In addition to being a loving and loved wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend, Suzy had been a real estate broker/agent, a certified personal trainer, and a devoted volunteer for a variety of causes and organizations. In her later years, she focused her volunteering efforts toward supporting cancer patients and survivors, volunteering at Moffitt Cancer Center in Tampa and founding the Lung Cancer Support and Networking Group at Memorial Hospital in Colorado Springs. Suzy loved to exercise, knit and be with her family. In addition to Barry, Suzy is survived by her daughters Amy Heinrichs and Terri Goldstein (son-in-law Jeff Goldstein), her son Peter Lichtman, her grandchildren Jessica Heinrichs, Jason Heinrichs, and Julia Goldstein, her brother Roland Hausmann (sister-in-law Helga Hausmann), her mother-in-law Jean Lichtman, and her "girls" Roxy and Pebbles.
