Tad Martin Johnson, 49, was found under two feet of snow on a Rocky Mountain Trail in the San Isabel National Forest near Cuchara, Huerfano County, Colorado around 7:30 PM Tuesday, November 17th. Tad Martin Johnson is mourned by his wife Maria M. Johnson of Hammond, his daughter Tracie Johnson of New York, New York, his son, Christopher S. Johnson, a student at the University of South Dakota, his mother, Margaret Botlo of Colorado Springs, his father, Ron Johnson of Munster, Indiana, his sister Tamra Michele Johnson-Rosser of Colorado Springs, his sister Trina Marie Johnson of Colorado Springs, step daughter Monica Laliberte (Jason) of Hammond, IN, and step daughter Madonna Strong (Victor) of Lafayette, IN. Tad attended Munster Ernest R. Elliott Elementary School, Cheyenne Mountain Jr.-Senior High School in Colorado Springs, and graduated from Crown Point High School in Crown Point, Indiana. Tad is a four year, honorably discharged, veteran of the United States Navy having served on the aircraft carrier USS Midway and submarine tender USS McKee. Tad was employed many years at the former K A Chemical plant of Gary, Indiana as a Supervisor and lived with his family many years in Crown Point, Indiana. Tad was in Munster Little League baseball, and was an avid motocross/motorcycle rider. He coached his son in motocross too. A funeral will be held at Advantage Funeral Chapel, November 27, 2009 at 12:00 pm, preceded by a viewing at 11:00 am. Ron Johnson requested that in lieu of flowers any remembrance go to an “Education Fund” for Tad’s son, Christopher Sean Johnson and can be mailed to: 8144 Hohman Ave., Munster, IN 46321.
