Terrance Russell Johnson

Terrance Russell Johnson, 81, of Hermantown passed away on Thursday, December 8, 2022 in his home. He was born on January 1, 1941 in Duluth to Leonard and Esther Johnson. He grew up in Munger/Solway Township and attended Munger Elementary School, before going to Proctor and graduating in 1959. He joined the U.S. Navy. Terry married Diane Lucille Sundin on May 11, 1963 in Duluth. Terry worked at Clyde Iron Works as an Iron Worker Inspector and at American Hoist and Derrick as an Inspector and Union Steward. He then worked at Thielen Engineering Quality Control as an Inspector. He was owner of Airport Taxi and a driver for Northern Access Transportation. He was also an inspector for Reach All. Terry was a member of the Solway Volunteer Fire Department. Terry liked to BBQ, camp, fish, grow vegetables, and most of all spending time with family. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Diane; son, Terry; brother, Richard; sister, Dianne; and best friend, Bruce. Terry will be greatly missed by his sons, Michael (Julie) and Glen (Barb); daughter-in-law, Kandy Johnson; eight grandchildren, Brianna (Andrew), Brandon (Skyla), Brooklyn (Brandon), Cole (Kianna), Nathan (Ronda), Courtney, Conner, and Britney; five great grandchildren; sister, Barb (Claire Stromland) Mattson; brothers, Daniel (Sharon) Johnson and Russell (Alex Larson) Johnson; brother-in-law, Butch Mahnke; and many nieces, nephews and friends. The family would like to thank all the staff at Edgewood Memory Care for taking such great care of Dad, the past three years, with his battle with dementia. A graveside service will be held at Solway Cemetery, Solway Township on May 11th, 2023 at 12pm. Military honors will be held at that time by the Cloquet Combined Honor Guard. Afterwards, a luncheon and fellowship will be held at Solway Town Hall starting at 1pm. Arrangements entrusted to Atkins Northland Funeral Home, 801 14th Street, Cloquet.
