Terrence Allen Johnson

Terrence “Terry” Allen Johnson, 66, of Venice, Fl, formally of Great Barrington, MA died December 26, 2010 of a heart attack. Terry was born February 18, 1944 in Great Barrington, son of Pearl (Amstead) and Clarence Johnson. A tag sale enthusiast, Terry was an avid deer hunter and fisherman who told everyone he got the catch of his life 32 years ago when he met his loving wife, friend and companion Reitta, they were married 30 years this past September. Terry had a full life which included working in logging, trucking; he was a police officer for Sheffield Police dept, chief of police for New Malboro, and a family farm homestead in NYS. He then returned to Great Barrington and worked for Berkshire Carpets which he later purchased and operated with his wife until he retired to Florida. With a desire to keep busy he spent his winters in Florida buying and fixing up real estate, finding treasures at tag sales and his summers in Massachusetts working with his nephew John for City Moves. He is survived by his wife Reitta of Venice, Fl, two children; Ginger Carey, and her husband Justice of Housatonic, and Gary Johnson of Great Barrington; four grandchildren: Heather, Todd, Lauren & Elyssa; two step children Coleen Regner and her husband Frank of Gansvoort , NY, and Brad Flewelling; two step grandchildren Michaela and Danny Regner. He also leaves his sister Marji Keefner-West of Great Barrington, a niece Bonnie Trierweiler (Kevin Moran), nephew and close friend John Trierweiler (Kelly Marks), and his grand nieces and nephews Jessica Trierweiler, Matthew, Mitchell, and Morgan Rote. He also leaves many wonderful friends. He was preceded in death by his grandson, Donald Allen Johnson.
