Thelma Victoria Hicks , 89, of Columbia , SC passed away December 20, 2015. She was born on October 12, 1926 in Sampson County, North Carolina to Redden Cannady and Vara Bass Cannady. Thelma loved the Lord, her family and gardening. She was employed by Tapp's Department Store up until her retirement. She was a member of the Columbia Free Will Baptist Church. Thelma is survived by her daughters Nancy (Joseph) Wallis of Dunn, NC, Shirley (Jimmy) Dowdey of West Columbia, SC and Judy Hicks of Columbia, SC, brother Dallas Cannady of Athens, GA, six grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren and other relatives and friends. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Roland Hicks, brothers Leon Cannady, Herman Cannady and Bertus Cannady. The family will receive friends at Thompson Funeral Home at Greenlawn Memorial Park on December 23, 2015 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM with a funeral service to follow at 12:00PM in the funeral home chapel with Dr. Joseph Wallis officiating. Interment will follow in Greenlawn Memorial Park. Family and friends may sign the online guest book at www.thompsonsfuneral.com
