Theresa Hudson Awtrey, 95, of West Columbia, South Carolina passed away January 22, 2019 at Opus Hospice West Columbia, South Carolina. She was born on November 12, 1923 in West Columbia, South Carolina to the late Neil Cam and Mary (Harmon) Raynor. Theresa was a lifelong resident of West Columbia. She was a graduate of Brookland Cayce High School and then attended Winthrop College, maintaining a 4.0 GPA. Following College, she worked as an executive assistant for several churches throughout the community and was selected to work directly for the District Superintendent for the Methodist Church of South Carolina. Theresa was an amazing mother and grandmother. She had a talent for working with her hands. Theresa was an accomplished artist, seamstress and even had her own ceramics business. Her kind and gentle spirit will be missed by those who loved her and those she loved. Theresa is survived by her daughter; Camille Hudson Vaiden (Tom), Murray “Buddy” Hudson (Lynn), grandchildren; Theresa “Terri” Mills (Cliff), Cami Hudson (Brent Muckleroy), Steven M. Hudson (Latonya Long), Christopher M. Hudson, great grandchildren; Tiffany, Angela, Brier, Tristan, Eva, and one great- great grandchild Melody. She was preceded in death by her husbands; Henry Murray Hudson and William E. Awtrey, and a brother, Bruce Raynor. Graveside services will be held at Celestial Memorial Gardens, 3111 Delree Street, West Columbia, SC 29170 on Monday, January 28, 2019 at 2 PM. Family will receive friends for a few minutes following the graveside service.
