Thomas Gregory Crowell

Born on February 25, 1937 to the parents of Walter Crowell and Mildred (Freng) Crowell in Glendale, CA. Tom grew up in the Northern Iowa area of Arnold's Park, IA. An avid golfer in his youth, Tom played collegiate golf at Creighton University and graduated as a Business Major from CU in 1959. Tom's love for CU was passed down to his oldest son David as they both were avid Bluejay basketball fans. Tom met and married his now late wife Helen (Cipriotti) Crowell in West Los Angeles and they married in February of 1964. During the early 1960's Tom was a stock broker with Merrill Lynch. While embarking on a career in finance, banking, and Real Estate, Tom and his growing family settled in the Bay Area of Northern California. His growing family included Tom's eldest son David Gregory Crowell of Camarillo, CA, his daughter Janet Louise Morrison of Charleston, SC, and his youngest son Mark Thomas Crowell of Nashville, TN. The family while living in various cities in Northern California such as Fremont, Pittsburgh, and Clayton CA enjoyed trips to the Sierra Mountains, fishing, and following Raider football. Tom and his late wife Helen, in particular, enjoyed family vacations in the Calaveras County region of the Sierras. Tom taught his sons how to fish, play baseball, football, and basketball which they enjoyed immensely. Tom coached his oldest son David in baseball and basketball which created a lifelong love of sports for both David and Mark. Tom's love for the outdoors was passed down to his daughter, Janet, as they both had a passion for the Carolina Coast. Sadly, Tom lost the love of his life Helen in 1978 to a rare heart disease. Helen was 43 at the time of her passing. At the time of Helen's death, the family was living in Germantown Tennessee, as Tom was working for Century 21 Real Estate, in the development of the Real Estate firm's southern operations. In the Early 1990's, Tom Crowell moved back to the Midwest and settled in St. Paul to care for his mother Mildred Crowell. After Mildred's passing, Tom stayed in St. Paul to take advantage of St. Paul's outdoor parks, coffee shops, and bookstores. Tom was an avid walker and reader of numerous books. Tom (Dad) will be missed by his family and leaves behind his children David, Mark, and Janet, his daughter in law Kimberly Crowell of Camarillo, CA and grandchildren Brant, Katie, Annie, Taylor, and Hailey, brother Walter Crowell, and Sister Mary Lawrence. The family has no plans for an area service but will be holding an out of state memorial at a later date.
