Thomas A. Gibson, of Venice, Florida passed away Sunday, January 13, 2008. Thomas was born in Norwood, Massachusetts. He moved to Venice in 1979 from Canton, Massachusetts where he was the Postmaster. Thomas was a member of the United States Coast Guard serving during WWII, A YMCA member of Venice and Quincy, MA, the Englewood Elks and American Legion, Boy Scout Troop Scoutmaster #172 St. John’s, Canton for 25 years, Venice Golf and Country Club, Knights of Columbus in Canton, the Postmaster Association, worked in the Real Estate business in Venice, and was a member of Our Lady of Lourdes. He is survived by his wife Esther of 59 years, son; Thomas A. Jr. and wife Joyce of Stafford, Virginia, daughter; Anne and husband Dr. Kevin Lynch of Venice, Florida, son; Joseph M. and wife Lynne of Bridgewater, New Jersey, brother; John Howard of Melbourne, Florida, two sisters; Catherine Matzilvich of Natick, Massachusetts and Marian Walsh of Falmouth, Massachusetts, grand daughters; Catherine Miner of Simpsonville, South Carolina, Elizabeth Mulligan, J.D. of Sefner, Florida, Maureen Burbage, MD., of Lexington, Kentucky, grandson; Thomas A. Gibson, III and Lee Ann Gibson both of Bridgewater, New Jersey, grandson; Thomas A. Gibson, IV of San Francisco, California and great grandsons; Quinn and Jake Mulligan of Sefner, Florida.
