Tony Allendale Edwards was born February 27, 1950, in Sparr, Florida to the late Willie and Lillian Edwards. He spent his early childhood traveling with his family because his father was in the military. He lived in Florida, Maryland, Georgia, Philadelphia, Germany and California. Tony, as he was fondly called, attended Seaside High School, however graduated from Heidelburg American High school in Heidelburg, Germany. Tony returned to the Monterey Peninsula with his family in 1970, where he renewed a friendship with Shirley McFarland. Their friendship turned into a 30-year relationship that resulted in their marriage and the birth of their two children, daughter, Kim and son, Lamar Edwards. Tony worked for AAFES at Fort Ord, CA. When the Military Installation was BRAC, in 1994, he retired from federal services. As an entrepreneur he worked for the Monterey Herald until Monterey Peninsula School District (MPUSD) employed him, where he worked for 10 years until his untimely death. Among the things that Tony did for enjoyment and pleasure was watching his favorite football team, the Miami Dolphins play football, working on cars, listening to his oldies but goodies, and being the proud second grand child of Zachary and Ruthie Mae White. Tony was preceded in death by his Mother and Father - Lillian and Willie; two brothers; Carnell, the oldest and Willie (Rickey) the youngest. Tony leaves to cherish his memories his two children, Kim, Seaside, CA. Larmar, Oregon, his only wife Shirley Edwards, three grandsons, Lamar,Lavar of Sacramento, CA. and Trevon of Portland, Oregon; three sisters, Carolyn, Penelope and Cynthia, of Seaside, CA; aunts, uncles, nieces, many other relatives and friends.

Mission Memorial Park

For almost 100 years, our cemetery has served the residents of the Monterey Bay Area. Mission Memorial Park opened in 1934 as Mission Memorial Cemetery and for many years was run by the City of Monterey. In 1988, Monterey Peninsula Mortuary opened on the grounds of our beautiful Seaside location. In 2007 we closed our Chapel of Seaside at our Noche Buena location and merged the two to become Mission Mortuary & Memorial Park....
