Valerie I. Krause, age 97, of Venice, Florida, passed away on September 19, 2014. She was born on April 10, 1917 in Bridgeport, CT and was a graduate of Warren Harding High School. Valerie was a resident of Southbury, CT prior to moving to Venice in 1993. She was one of the founders of the American Indian Institute, member of the Southwest Fossil Club, one of the founders of the American Shakespearean Theatre of Stratford, CT and Women's Club Golf Champion at Highland Country Club in Shelton, CT. Valerie had various talents and her favorite was art. She is survived by her two sons, Richard W. Krause of Epping, New Hampshire and Donald W. Krause, M.D. of Lavant, Maine. Valerie also leaves behind seven loving grandchildren and sixteen great-grandchildren. Services and burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Nature Conservancy Florida Chapter, 222 S. Westmonte Drive, Ste. 300, Altamonte Springs, Florida 32714 or to the American Heart Assoc., 2975 Bee Ridge Road, Sarasota, Florida 34239. Farley Funeral Home in Venice is handling the arrangements.
