It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Vali P. Leedom on April 21, 2018. Vali passed away peacefully at her home in Carmel after a long and courageous battle with cancer. Vali was born in Monterey, California on September 16, 1939 to Angelo and Angela Peschiutta. She graduated from Monterey High School in 1958. Vali worked at the Naval Post Graduate School when she met her future husband, Clair "Bud" E. Leedom, Jr. who was a student at the school. Shortly after marriage, Bud's career as a Naval Officer led Vali to be stationed at Quantamo Bay, Cuba. A far cry from the familiar Monterey Peninsula she grew up on. From there, Vali along with her husband lived in several places including San Francisco, Virginia and San Diego. In 1977, they realized their dream of retiring and returning to the Monterey Peninsula. Vali dedicated her life to being the wife of a Naval Officer along with raising her two children; Bud and Rina. After her children moved on to college and following the passing of her husband in 1994, Vali became a devoted volunteer at the SPCA benefit shop in Carmel, California. For more than twenty years Vali enjoyed volunteering, particularly because of all the wonderful people she was able to work with. In addition, Vali volunteered for the San Carlos Church Food Bank along with the San Carlos School lunch program. She was always willing to lend a hand for any event. Whether it was golfing with her friends or just sitting for coffee, she always had a smile that we will never forget. Vali was a fabulous cook and always had great fashion sense. But her greatest enjoyment was spending time with her grandchildren. Vali was a beautiful, loving and caring person, always thinking of others before herself. Vali is preceded in death by her husband Clair "Bud" Leedom and her parents Angelo and Angela Peschiutta. She is survived by her son, Bud Leedom of Rancho Santa Fe, CA and her daughter, Rina Graves of Monterey. Vali also had four grandchildren; Samantha, Michael, Emerson, and Ellaclair. A memorial service will be held Friday, April 27, 2018 at 10:30 a.m. The service will be at the Santa Rosilia Chapel at the San Carlos Cemetery in Monterey, California.

Mission Mortuary - Monterey

Being centrally located on the Monterey Peninsula and adjacent to the San Carlos and Monterey City Cemeteries, Mission Mortuary has been the premier funeral home choice for Monterey and the entire Monterey Bay Peninsula for many years. Mission Mortuary opened its doors in 1946 at a location on Munras Avenue in Monterey and moved to our current location on Camino El Estero in 1952. While times certainly have changed, Mission Mortuary has continually adapted to meet the evolving needs of our families....
