Velvia Charlotta Peggy Gray Black 11/18/1925 - 12/27/2014 Peggy Black, 89, passed away on December 27, 2014. She was born the daughter of Charles and Mary Gray on November 18, 1925 in Columbus, Franklin, Ohio. She married her sweetheart, Harold Reed Black on December 3, 1943. They shared 67 years of love, companionship and adventure. Peggy was a master genealogist. She and Reed left a valuable legacy of family history including pictures they traced back for generations. Peggy and Reed served a church mission in Hawaii. She was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. She was a crochet and needle-point genius and talented in other crafts as well. She gave many beautiful, treasured, handmade items to her family and friends. There was always room for one more in her home, and her home was always filled with love, excitement, and lots of people. Peggy and Reed raised 9 children, have 51 grandchildren, 118 great-grandchildren, and 8 great-great-grandchildren. She is survived by her brother Corey Vonda Gray; children Peggy John Stevens, Donna Danny Allen, Connie Bruce Myers, Robert Marilyn Black, Linda Murray, Rick Jeanne Black, Chris Klea Black; son-in-law Cal Cottrell; and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, nephews and nieces. Preceded in death by husband Reed Black, daughter Mary Cottrell and son Ron Black; son-in-law Ross Murray; grandsons Daniel Allen and Alan Pack; great-grandsons Storm and Tiger Hall; great-granddaughter Janie May Jeppson; brothers Armande, Mancel, Kevin, Dallas, and both of her parents. She will be remembered as a strong, courageous, capable, spunky, and vibrant woman, and a fun-loving, humorous, generous, caring wife, mother, sister, aunt, grandmother, and friend. Funeral arrangements are being handled by Meldrum Mortuary, 52 N. MacDonald, Mesa, Arizona 85201. Funeral services will be held Saturday, January 3, 2015 at 10:00 a.m. at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, Lehi/Horne Building, 810 E. Lehi Road, Mesa, Arizona. Graveside services and burial will be at approximately 11:00 a.m. at Mesa Cemetery, 1212 N. Center, Mesa, Arizona.
