Ways you can honor Virginia's memory:
Virginia Theresa Costanzo - Obituary Virginia Theresa Costanzo, age 98, passed away October 17, 2021, Mesa, AZ. She was born May 18, 1923, Queens, NY. Virginia was preceded in death by her husband and soul mate, Joseph, along by her parents: Vincenzo and Gaetana, and siblings: Sarah, George, Christina, and Louis. She is survived by her sons: Thomas, Andrew (Kerry), and Stephen, grandchildren: Destinee and Maximus, along with her brother Paul and sister Cecilia. Virginia graduated from the Manhattan High School of Women's Garment Trades in 1942. From graduation until marriage in 1963, Virginia worked as a seamstress in the Manhattan garment district. After marriage, she had a busy life as a homemaker and mother, along with many volunteer activities. Virginia was a devote Catholic who dedicated her life to her church, friends, and family. She was a very spiritual person who was faithful to her Heavenly Father, her Savior Jesus Christ, and her Mother Mary. Her many church activities included being a Eucharistic Minister and catechist along with being a daily communicant and lector. She was involved with the Legion of Mary and the Society of St. Vincent de Paul, along with numerous volunteer positions throughout her life. She was bestowed the honor of representing St. Daniel the Prophet Parish, Scottsdale, receiving Communion from Pope John Paul II, when he visited Arizona, September 1987. Incidentally, she was happy knowing that she and this now sainted Pope shared the same birthday. Virginia was a loving and generous soul who often made lifelong friendships that started with just a smile. She enjoyed visiting the elderly and those shut in, sharing her love of God through prayer and joyful song. Always prayerful, Virginia spent most of her twilight years praying for the salvation of her family, her country, and the whole world, along with praying for an end to abortion. Virginia died peacefully in her sleep and is now enjoying her heavenly reward. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to Our Lady of the Desert Catholic Parish, PO Box 337, 15385 Pierce Ferry Rd, Dolan Springs, AZ 86441, where her dear friend Father Julius Kayiwa is the pastor.
