Virginia "Ginny" Oakes

Virginia “Ginny” Oakes, a lifelong resident of Davenport, Florida passed away on Thursday, August 5, 2021. She was 82. Ginny was born September 4, 1938 in Two Egg, Florida to Jesse T. and Willie Louise Faulk Lane. She was a homemaker and was of the Christian faith. Ginny loved her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren and loved spending time with them. She was a lover of books, and truly enjoyed reading just about anything that was reading material. Ginny was loved not only by her family, but by her entire community of Davenport. She was everyone’s “mom” and would always help others as much as she could. She is preceded in death by her parents. Ginny leaves behind to cherish her memory, her loving husband, of 65 years, Jack E. Oakes; sons, Steven Lee Oakes of Davenport, FL, Kevin Oakes and wife, Carrie Welch of Davenport, FL and Derren Eugene Oakes and wife, Nancy of Davenport, FL; daughter, Robyn Benge and husband, Tony of Winter Park, FL; brother, Gerald Lane and wife, Pat of King, NC; grandchildren, Hayden, Jodi, Julia, Amanda, Tyson, Bryan, Justin, and Emile; great grandchildren, Bryson, Evan, Laney, Knox, Chloe, Ashlin, Jackson, Wyatt, Isabelle, Hunter, Colin, Carter, Carlie, Justin, Lane, Scarlett, Kaylee, Kourtni and Haylen; great-great grandchildren, Sophia, Landon, Karter and Kendal. A visitation will be held on Monday, August 9, 2021, from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. The funeral service will be held on Tuesday, August 10, 2021, at 3:00 p.m. all at Oak Ridge Funeral Care in Haines City, FL. Final resting place will be at Evergreen Cemetery in Davenport, FL.
